Privacy Policy

TickPopis a chore app for shared homes. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app collects, where it lives, who can see it, and how to get it deleted. We've tried to keep it short and honest — there is no fine print here that contradicts the summary.

The short version

• You can use TickPop without giving us any personal details.
• We collect only what the app needs to work: your display name, your game progress, and the chores and activity in your rooms.
• There are no ads, no analytics trackers, and no selling of data. Notifications are optional and only ever about your own rooms.
• Anything you post in a room is visible to the other people in that room.
• You can ask us to delete everything at any time via the delete account page.

Accounts

When you first use TickPop, you are signed in anonymously through Firebase Authentication — no email, no phone number, no name required beyond the display name you choose. You can optionally create an account with an email address and password so your progress survives reinstalls and device changes. If you do, we store that email address along with your display name.

There are no social logins (no Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in), so none of those companies learn about your TickPop account from us.

What we store

The app stores the following data in our database:

• Your profile: display name, title, email address (only if you created an account), level, XP, task counts, streaks, badges, daily completion history, and the date you joined.
• Room data:each room's invite code, title, and emoji, plus each member's display name, title, and XP.
• Tasks: the chores created in a room — titles, descriptions, categories, subtasks, due dates, status, and who claimed or completed them.
• Activity entries:a feed of room events, each containing a display name, a short description (for example "completed Take out trash"), the XP change, and timestamps.
• Transient achievement events: short-lived records used to award badges. These are consumed and deleted on our servers as part of normal operation.
• Notification settings: if you allow notifications, a push token issued by Apple for your device (a device identifier that lets us send a notification to that specific install), the platform and app version it belongs to, and which categories of notification you have switched on.

What we don't do

• No advertising SDKs, and no ads.
• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No selling or renting of your data to anyone.
• No tracking you across other apps or websites.

One technical note for completeness: the app loads its font files from Google's font CDN at runtime, which means Google may see your device's IP address as part of serving that request, like any content delivery network would. (This website, by contrast, serves its fonts itself and makes no runtime request to Google Fonts.)

Who can see your data

Rooms are shared spaces. Your display name, title, XP, tasks you create or complete, and your activity entries are visible to the other members of the room. Anyone with the room's invite code or link can join it, so content posted in a room should be considered visible to anyone in that room. Please don't put anything in a task or room name that you wouldn't want housemates (or whoever holds the invite code) to read.

Push notifications

TickPop can send you notifications about the rooms you are in — for example when a housemate completes a chore, when someone joins or leaves, when a chore is due, or when a housemate nudges you. These are sent only to people who share a room with you, and only about that room; we never send marketing or promotional notifications.

Notifications are entirely optional. Your device asks for permission the first time you open a room board, and declining costs you nothing else in the app. If you allow them, Apple issues a push token for that install, which we store against your account so our servers know where to deliver. The token is a device identifier: it cannot read anything on your device, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites.

You can switch individual categories off under Settings → Notificationsin the app, or turn everything off in your device's system settings. The stored token is deleted when you sign out and when you delete your account, and our servers automatically discard it once Apple reports that the app has been uninstalled.

Where your data is processed

TickPop runs on Google Firebase(Google LLC), which stores and processes the data described above on our behalf. Your rooms, tasks, activity history and profile are stored in Google's eur3 multi-region, located in the European Union (Belgium and the Netherlands), and the services that act on that data run in the EU as well. One legacy account-deletion endpoint remains hosted in the United States so that older app versions can still delete their accounts; requests made through it are processed by Google LLC in the US. Google acts as our data processor and does not use this data for its own purposes.

How long we keep data

• Rooms: rooms that go unused for an extended period are automatically deleted by a cleanup job, together with their tasks and activity history.
• Your account: profile data is kept for as long as your account exists, and deleted when you ask us to delete it.

Children

TickPop is a general-audience app for households and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app works anonymously by default, the only personal detail a user can hand us is an optional email address. If you believe a child has created an account with their email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. If a change meaningfully reduces your privacy, we will say so plainly rather than bury it.
